Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) offers one semester and one year exchanges, and the freedom to take courses from across our undergraduate programs. Hong Kong itself offers a unique window into China and a gateway to other Asian countries. Housing ranges from $886 to $1,034 per semester, depending upon semester. Meals are the responsibility of the student, and may be taken on campus or off. Cost ranges from $1,500-$2,500 per semester. An administrative fee of $211 is also charged (includes visa).

Once you have completed the Augsburg University approval process, Augsburg will nominate you as an exchange student. After you have been nominated, you will receive the application information and procedures by email, and complete your exchange application on-line.
Nomination Deadlines:

Exchange students can choose to live on- or off-campus. In order to integrate more fully into the University experience, you are
encouraged to live in on-campus dormitories. Those wishing to live off-campus must arrange their own housing.
Undergraduate exchange students are housed in the University's 21-story Undergraduate Halls. The Undergraduate Halls are composed
of the South Tower and the North Tower providing some 800 rooms. Majority of the rooms accommodate two students and are
air-conditioned (separately controlled in each room). For each occupant, the provision includes one bed, closet, desk and shelf, one chair,
and one LAN point and wi-fi connected to the University's network system.
Linens (sheets, pillows, towels, etc.) are the responsibility of the individual occupant. Please bring your own or buy them in Hong Kong.
Every two rooms share a common restroom and shower facility. There is no telephone in the bedroom, but you can use the public
telephones at the common areas of the Halls. Other facilities include a common lounge (with a small pantry & kitchenette) on each floor,
a music/TV room, a multi-purpose room, a table tennis room, a computer room, a gym room, a study room, and a laundry area.
You may indicate your preference to stay on a single-gender floor or a co-ed floor. Your preference will be considered as far as possible
subject to availability.
There is no meal plan, mandatory or optional, available at HKBU. There are currently several dining facilities on campus, ranging from
quick/simple meals to full multi-course provision of both Chinese and Western styles. The cost per meal falls approximately within the
range of US$2-15, depending on which meal of the day and its fullness. There are also several commercially operated
restaurants/cafeterias within easy walking distance of the campus offering a wide range of prices.

The “East-West Encounters” Programme aims to orientate newly arrived international exchange students and to foster cross-cultural exchanges between local and non-local students at HKBU. It does so by mixing the student ambassadors and the non-local students in a range of educational and cultural activities including Buddies Scheme, Orientation for International Students, Global Café and Monthly Outing. The Programme is designed to nurture student ambassadors to cultivate their leadership, organisation and communication skills. It is hoped that through this means friendships are developed between local and non-local students.
If you are interested in continuing your students in Hong Kong at the conclusion of the spring semester, IES Abroad offers eight-week long internships with businesses and other organizations in Hong Kong.
- Work Hours: Interns will work for up to 40 hours at a Hong Kong company or organization
- Placement Fields Include: Accounting, Art & Design, Fashion, Finance, International Trade, IT, Journalism, Marketing, NGOs, Public Relations, and more!
- Credits: Required 3- or 6-credit Leading Across Cultures Internship Seminar
- Housing: Serviced apartments located on Hong Kong Island
- Pre-departure Advising: Including visa support, cultural preparation, and résumé and interview guidance

1. Download and complete the form ID995A “Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong”
2. Courier your completed form ID995A together with the following supporting documents to the International Office:
- - Photocopy of the personal particulars page of your passport; and
- - Evidence of your financial standing, e.g. bank statements, savings account passbooks, scholarship letters, etc.
It normally takes at least six weeks for the Immigration Department to process a student visa application.
When you receive the student visa, please attach it to a blank page in your passport. Be sure that the immigration officer sees your student visa and admits you into Hong Kong on the student status. Otherwise, the officer may admit you as a tourist which will not allow you to begin studies in Hong Kong.
