Biography:
Valerie is from Southern California and is joining CGEE after completing her M.A. in International Relations at University College Dublin in Ireland. She first studied abroad in Dublin in 2023 while earning her B.A. in International Studies with a minor in Political Science at the University of California, Irvine. Her study abroad experience ultimately shaped her academic and personal trajectory and inspired her to pursue a career in international education centered on intercultural engagement, student accessibility, and student support. Since then, Valerie has worked in study abroad mentorship and equitable application review in efforts to help expand global learning opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Her background has led her to become especially passionate about helping students navigate unfamiliar spaces with curiosity, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.

Academically, her interests focus on social change, education, student engagement, and civic engagement, all of which continue to shape how she approaches global learning and intercultural exchange. She believes that international education can not only be a transformative tool for critical reflection, but also a tool that encourages personal growth and exploration. She is deeply committed to building her career, fostering supportive communities where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves while engaging meaningfully with the world around them. Valerie is extremely excited to be joining the CGEE team in Mexico this upcoming fall to support students through one of the most formative experiences of their academic journeys!
