Australian Environment, Wildlife, and Conservation

The Ultimate Summer Abroad Experience

From its rain forests, coastlines and coral reefs to its arid interior landscapes, Australia offers a diverse range of physical and cultural landscapes and ecosystems for you to explore. The University of New South Wales, in partnership with one of Australia's leading conservation management agencies, The New South Wales Department of Environment and Conservation, presents a practical introduction to 'Australian Environment, Wildlife and Conservation.' This course is an introductory level science course. It assumes no, or very little previous tertiary level biological science; however, biology students would have the opportunity to expand their knowledge, particularly in the conservation management area.

Summer Program Highlights

  • Includes guided travel to distinct regions of Australia (Bryon Bay, Darwin, Kakadu National Park, Sydney, Cairns, and the Great Barrier Reef)
  • Earn academic credit transferable to your home degree
  • Classes taught by expert Australian environmentalists
  • Participants take one course (Wildlife and Conservation). The program is streamlined to be a "stand-alone" 75 hour program worth 6-8 US credits.

"My study abroad experience was fast paced, challenging and superb. We traveled all over Australia, including the Outback, Byron Bay and the Great Barrier Reef, to name a few. This program fit extremely well into my summer plans and gave me the ability to experience and hike in the various climates and habitats, such as the rainforest, dry arid, and coastal temperate. There was a perfect balance of learning, relaxing, enjoying and growing, all backed up by great people that became family. If beautiful scenery, the outdoors, flora, fauna and asking questions are your passions, then this program will provide satisfaction, in addition to so much more."
