Program Description:
Comparative Semester Thailand and Vietnam

Study abroad in Thailand and Vietnam in one semester. Spend two months in Chiang Mai, Thailand, a land of contrasts, a delightful mix of frenetic energy and serene moments. Hold tight as your tuk-tuk careens high-speed down crowded alleyways, around each corner a new delight. It might be a couple of young, orange-cloaked monks in quiet conversation or the rush of what seems like a thousand mopeds competing for the street. From Thailand, you travel to Vietnam, which will delight you from the green rice fields of north, to the hustle and bustle of the Mekong Delta in the south; with its beautiful and varied landscapes, delicious cuisine, stunning beaches and great shopping. Having survived war after war, colonialism and communism, your host city for two months, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam provides an fascinating comparison to Thailand.

"The ability to study in two countries, learn two languages, and interact with two very dissimilar cultures is something that very few students get to do, even those that do study abroad.  I also enjoyed the experience of studying at two universities – Chiang Mai University and Hoa Sen University – and being able to compare and contrast the academic settings of Thailand and Vietnam. I learned more about myself and the world I live in than I could have done in many years staying at home; I would not give up those lessons for anything."
Chad Stein, University of Pittsburgh
