Program Description:

Overview

Location:  Wonju, South Korea

Wonju
Wonju is located in central Korea, in the South West of the Gangwon Province. A city of approximately 300,000 population, it is 1 hr 20 minutes (by bus or train) from Seoul. Located in the vicinity of Chiak Mountain and near to numerous beaches on the east coast, Wonju is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Korea. It is also known as a place for leisure sports such as skiing, rafting, mountain biking, scuba diving, and many more activities. Students can enjoy their free time experiencing Korean culture in these natural surroundings.

Yonsei University was born of the merger between Yonhi University and Severance Medical School in 1957.  It became the driving force behind Korea’s economic and political growth, and it also led university education and research. In 1978  Yonsei's spirit and academic tradition also took roots in Wonju.

Housing

On Campus: Dorms

Wonju Dorm

Off Campus
There are 2 apartment complexes near the campus and a new complex is under construction. The size of an apartment unit varies from 36.3 m², 66 m² to 79.2 m². Units larger than 66m² have more than 2 rooms so that a student can live alone or share with a roommate. Besides, there are a wide range of studios for one person with a cheaper rent compared to apartments. Since rents vary depending on locations and facilities, students can make a choice. Most residential units can be rented for one year or one semester and a rent is usually paid in advance.

Costs

On-Campus Housing:  Augsburg students receive free housing! A (approximately) $50 housing deposit is required.
